Adoption
If you are interested in adopting a cat we recommend you visit our
shelter a couple times to meet the kitties. If you have dogs, young
children, and/or other cats, the shelter volunteers can help you find a
cat that will get along with them.
The photo on the left shows "Kimberly" who found a home on Sunday,
July 31, 2005, getting a ride on her new friend's shoulder.
Don't forget about the older cats when you are looking to adopt. Unlike
kittens you already know the personality of older cats so you can adopt a
cat that you are sure will get a long with you family. Older cats are
also litter boxed trained, and are a lot easier to take care of. Also,
everyone wants a young kitten so the wonderful older cats are often
overlooked and can live years at the shelter.
All cats adopted from the Alaska Humane Society must be picked up at the
shelter.
